Peru golfers top the Red Storm
SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake golf team suffered a 5-1 loss to the Peru Nighthawks on Tuesday at the Saranac Lake Golf Club.
Ryan McGinnis-Theis picked up a lone win for the Red Storm in the No. 1 match. McGinnis-Theis carded a 40 to edge out Nick Palmer, who shot a 41.
Peru’s Liam Clark turned in the best round of the day with a 36, beating Jonah Peckham, who shot a 44, in the No. 2 match. The Nighhawks’ Patrick Clark also carded a sub-40 result with a 39 in the No. 3 match, beating Noah Hastings, who shot a 44.
Peru rounded out the day with three straight victories from Nolan Minor, Brady O’Connell and Frank Trudeau. Minor shot a 46 to beat Carson St. Louis’ 52, O’Connell earned a 45 to narrowly beat Cooper Patnode’s 46 and Trudeau carded a 44 to top Brice Heery’s 58.
The Red Storm golf team was slated to travel to the Harmony Golf Course in Port Kent on Wednesday to face the AuSable Valley Patriots. The team will then host the Plattsburgh Hornets at 3:30 p.m. today.
