SARANAC LAKE — After dropping its last two outings, the Saranac Lake baseball team picked up a much-needed win over Ticonderoga at home on Monday, topping the Sentinels 4-3 in extra innings.
Ticonderoga jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning, before the two teams traded runs in the fifth. While trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Red Storm evened the game with back-to-back runs. Saranac Lake then walked it off with a run in the eighth inning.
Ethan Knight led the Red Storm’s eight-hit performance with a pair of hits, which included a double. Chayse Delosh also had two hits for Saranac Lake — both were singles.
Connor Gillis started the game on the mound for the Red Storm, but was relieved by Connor Coventry in the sixth inning. Coventry earned the pitching win as the duo allowed just two hits. Ticonderoga’s Dom Crossman and Jackson Dorsett pitched during the game.
Up next, Saranac Lake, which improved to 4-3 overall, will take on the Sentinels again today at 4:30 p.m., this time the contest will be in Ticonderoga.

Plattsburgh 15, Saranac Lake Placid 8

The Saranac Lake Placid boys lacrosse team suffered a 15-8 home loss to the Plattsburgh Hornets on Monday.
Lukas Miemis led SLP with five goals, while Mik Denkenberger, Scottie Nicholas and Mason Stoddard each connected on one goal. Denkenberger also had three assists, while Nicholas had two and Stoddard earned one.
Plattsburgh’s Alek Duprey scored six goals, while Declan and Killian Baker each had a hat trick. Cooper Davis, Shamus Bibeau and Jahvari Anderson also scored for the Hornets.
SLP, which dropped to 2-6 overall, were slated to host the St. Lawrence Larries on Monday, before another home contest against Malone at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
