SLP girls lax win season opener
SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Placid girls lacrosse team kicked off the season Monday with a 17-5 victory over the Massena Raiders under the lights on the road.
Seven different players scored. The team had aggressive defense and strong goalie play from freshman Sophie Czadzeck, who recorded four saves.
Tyler Burth led SLP with five goals, while her twin sister Kelsi Burth scored twice and added three assists.
Juliana Tremblay and Emma Clark scored three goals each for SLP, while Lizzie Harvey scored twice. Freshmen Katy Hoffnagle and Addison Colby recorded their first career varsity goals. Clark also chipped in with two assists and Norah Galvin had one.
With only two weeks of practice and one day outside leading up to the game, the coaches said they were pleased with the overall performance.
Up next, the SLP girls will take on the Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in Ogdensburg.
