Red Storm boys hoopers secure 12th victory
SARANAC LAKE — After a rocky start on Wednesday, the Saranac Lake boys basketball team used a strong second half performance to edge out the Peru Nighthawks 50-46 on the road.
The Nighthawks led 28-18 at halftime, however the Red Storm responded with a 32-18 run after the intermission to secure their 12th victory of the season.
Saranac Lake junior Cedar Crist recorded a game high 19 points, and teammate Mik Denkenberger added 10. Connor Gillis scored eight points for the Red Storm, while Dillon Wilson and Alius Martelle chipped in with six points each. Gunner Harrison recorded two points in the win.
Deacon Whitmarsh led Peru with 17 points, while Jordan Osborne scored 10.
Up next, the Red Storm, which improved to 12-5 overall and 7-3 in league play, will take on the AuSable Valley Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on the road Monday, before hosting back-to-back games to close out the season.
