Hornets sting Red Storm in volleyball

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to the undefeated Plattsburgh Hornets at home Tuesday. The Hornets won by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-21.

The loss was marked the second time this season that Plattsburgh has swept the Red Storm. The Hornets defeated them on Sept. 17.

Saranac Lake freshman Sophie Czadzeck paced her team on Tuesday. Czadzeck recorded nine points, six aces, five digs and four assists.

Lexie Donaldson, a sophomore, and Abby Isabella, a senior, led the charge defensively with 12 digs each. Sophomore Mackenzie Crane recorded a team-high two blocks.

The Red Storm, which dropped to 8-4 overall, will travel to Champlain for a match at 6 p.m. today against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Saranac Lake topped the Cougars 3-0 on Sept. 19 in their lone contest this season.
