SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake volleyball team defeated the Saranac Central Spartans 3-1 on the road Monday. The Red Storm posted scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-14 to improve to 4-1 overall.

Saranac Lake was led by senior Alice LaDue’s team-high 13 service points and six assists. LaDue also chipped in with three digs, two aces and one kill.

Lexie Donaldson and Gracen Foster were once again solid defensively. Donaldson, a sophomore, led the team with 11 digs, while Foster, a junior, had three blocks.

The team will host Northern Adirondack at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

AuSable Valley 3, Lake Placid 1

The Lake Placid volleyball team suffered a 3-1 road loss to the AuSable Valley Patriots on Monday. The Blue Bombers took the first set 18-25 but fell in their final three sets by scores of 25-16, 26-24 and 25-23.

Norah Galvin, a senior, paced Lake Placid with 15 assists, 11 points, 10 digs, eight kills and one ace.

Junior Fiona Sullivan also had a solid outing, recording 11 points, nine digs, three kills and two assists. Brooke Beaney, a senior, added 10 digs.

The Blue Bombers, which fell to 1-3 overall, were slated to host Plattsburgh on Tuesday before returning home for a match against Saranac Central at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
