Barfly Open golf tourney set for Sept. 10
LAKE PLACID — The Barfly Open is set for Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Lake Placid Club Links Course.
Now in its 46th year, the two-person scramble begins with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. It benefits the Tri-Lakes Humane Society.
Last year’s event generated over $10,000 for the region’s four-legged residents, the first time it reached the $10,000 mark. Approximately $75,000 has been raised for the humane society over the past 20-plus years.
“Last year exceeded our expectations,” said Marie Wigger Morgan, tournament organizer. “We had many private donors who were very, very generous, and every hole was sponsored.”
The Barfly Open Golf Tournament features the North Country’s restaurant and bar industry. The event typically moves around the various courses in Lake Placid.
Each participating team must have a combined handicap of at least 20. The registration fee is $85 per person, including golf, cart, skins game and a post-tournament awards party at Wiseguys Sports Bar and Grill on School Street in Lake Placid.
