LAKE PLACID — Saranac Lake resident Sam Boese had the fastest time at the third High Peaks Cyclery Mini Triathlon race this season at the at the Mirror Lake Beach on Monday.

Boese, who competed in the 30 to 39 age group, completed the course in 58 minutes, 22 seconds. He also was the top finisher in the first mini-tri of the season on June 24. He did not compete in the July 1 race.

Sean Davis of Concord, New Hampshire, who won the July 1 race, was second on the men’s side in 59:04, followed by Colin Delaney of Wilmington in 1:00:22.

Brittany Schroeder of Longmont, Colorado was the top finisher in the women’s divisions. She competed in the 30 to 39 age group and completed the triathlon in 1:06:03.

Clare Egan of Lake Placid was second overall in 1:11:28 and Rachel Scall of Brooklyn was third in 1:14:28.

Matthew and Sara Cook, both of Lake Placid, had the fastest time in the teams division. The duo finished in 1:06:58. Delaney and Roger Gocking were second in 1:07:20; Curtis Howard and Sarah Thompson (1:07:38) placed third.

The race series is hosted every Monday night through Aug. 12. This summer’s races start at 6:30 p.m. and feature a 400-yard swim in Mirror Lake, a 12-mile bike around the River Road Loop, and a 3-mile run down and back on Mount Whitney Road.
