Black Fly 5K draws 188 runners

SARANAC LAKE — Runners, walkers, rollers and strollers alike showed up for the fourth annual St. Bernard’s Black Fly 5K on June 1 at Dewey Mountain in Saranac Lake.

With 188 particpants, some of the more serious runners set the pace and battled it out for prizes, while those wishing to be more relaxed enjoyed the healthy exercise, fellowship and fun. This annual fundraiser raises funds for the tuition assistance program at St. Bernard’s School.

Jeremy Evans was the overall fastest as well as winning his age group with a time of 24:22.

In addition to the top three in each age group, prizes were awarded for the youngest finisher, Omega Bickford, the wisest finisher, Tony Munn, the largest family participating, the Fitzgerald Family and the most enthusiastic the bride and groom and their wedding party Haidyn Hawkes and Patrick Armstrong.
