Saranac Lake hitters top Spartans
After dropping its first match of the season this past Thursday, the Saranac Lake volleyball team rebounded in a big way on Tuesday.
The Red Storm swept past the Saranac Central Spartans 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-19. The team improves to 2-1 with the win.
Emily Gay powered Saranac Lake with 17 points, seven aces, four assists, three digs, three kills and one block. Gracen Foster and Alice LaDue had solid performances for the Red Storm as well. Foster finished with eight points, five assists, four aces, four digs and one kill. LaDue had seven points two aces, one dig and one kill.
Anica Null led Saranac Lake with four kills, while chipping in three points and two digs. Lexie Donaldson tied Foster for a game-high four digs. Donaldson also contributed with two points, one ace and one assist.
Payton Barry had a solid out for the Red Storm with four points and one ace. Madi Hathaway had one ace and one point, Sophia McBride recorded one dig and one kill and Whitney Warner had two kills.
The Red Storm are slated to host on Ausable Valley in a rematch of last season’s Section VII, Class C title contest. The match will start at 6 p.m.
