High School Roundup: Storm boys soccer tops Lake Placid

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake boys soccer team defeated Lake Placid 4-1 Tuesday afternoon in their first home game this season. The win marked the Red Storm’s third straight.

Saranac Lake’s Ryan Bartholomew, Mason Stoddard, Dillon Wilson and Baylor Karger each scored one goal in the win. Ethan Knight and Tommy Sloan recorded one assist.

Brendan Murphy scored the lone goal for the Blue Bombers to prevent the shutout.

Lake Placid’s Will Landriault had 14 saves and Saranac Lake’s goalie, Nash Carlisto, had one save.

With the win, the Red Storm improved to 3-1 overall while the Blue Bombers fall to 0-5.

Saranac Lake is slated to take on Northern Adirondack on the road today at 4:30 p.m. Lake Placid will travel to Willsboro on Friday, with a 4 p.m. start.

VOLLEYBALL

Saranac Lake 3, Northern Adirondack 0

The Saranac Lake volleyball team defeated Northern Adirondack 3-0 at home on Tuesday. The Red Storm won by scores of 26-24, 25-17 and 25-19.

Saranac Lake’s freshman libero Lexie Donaldson was a standout at the service line, recording a team-high 17 points while also contributing with two aces and four kills. Donaldson also paced the Red Storm defensively, leading the team with eight digs.

The Red Storm’s Emily Gay, a junior, was the team’s top setter, finishing with 13 assists. Gay also chipped in 10 points, four kills, three aces and three digs.

The Red Storm improved to 4-2. The squad will face off against the Peru Nighthawks on the road Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Peru 3, Lake Placid 0

The Lake Placid volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to the host Peru Nighthawks on Tuesday, falling by scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-16.

Junior Norah Galvin paced the Blue Bombers with nine assists, four digs, four points, two aces and two kills. Senior Nadia Phillip had eight kills, five digs, two points and one ace.

Lake Placid’s Reagan Lamotte led the team with six digs. Lamotte also contributed with two points and one kill.

The Blue Bombers drop to 1-5 overall. Lake Placid is slated to host Northeastern Clinton today at 6 p.m.
