High School Roundup: Bombers soccer, volleyball teams fall
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid boys soccer team suffered an 8-0 loss to the Boquet Valley Griffins on their home field Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins got off to a hot start, scoring six goals in the first half. The Blue Bombers defense picked up steam after intermission, holding their opponents to just two goals — both of which came with under six minutes left.

Lake Placid was outshot 22-5, but found some scoring opportunities throughout the contest.
With around 10 minutes left, Lake Placid’s Ayden McCormick, a freshman, nearly put his team on the board when he split between two Boquet Valley defenders, before his shot was deflected by Boquet Valley’s Trenton Lyon. The Blue Bombers Caleb Wylie, a sophomore, also had a scoring chance late, but that too, was stopped.
Lyon finished the game with five saves and Lake Placid’s goalie, Will Landriault, had 17.
The Blue Bombers will look to rebound today when they take on the Seton Catholic Knights on the road. The game will start at 4:30 p.m.
