SARANAC LAKE — The temperature was minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit as the Ice Palace Fun Run began at 10 a.m. last Saturday, Feb. 4.
Perhaps needless to say, it takes a dedicated runner to run a race at this low temperature. Risking frostbite and irritated lungs, eight runners lined up at the start and completed the 4.2-mile course.
Several volunteers also braved the cold to manage the race, including members of the Mountaineers Rugby Club, and Lakeview Deli once again provided a large dispenser of hot chocolate.
The run is an annual part of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.
