USA Nordic Sport named a team of 15 athletes on Thursday to represent the United States at the International Ski Federation’s Junior World Championships for ski jumping and Nordic combined from Feb. 1-5 in Whistler, Canada.

Four men and four women qualified to represent Team USA in ski jumping. It will be the fourth Junior Worlds appearance for Erik Belshaw, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the second for Tate Frantz, of Lake Placid, and Maxim Glyvka, of Fox River Grove, Illinois, and the second appearance for Josie Johnson, of Park City, Utah.

“We have a team with chances to win both individually, and in team events. If they are able to keep up the great ski jumping they have shown in the past month, we would be satisfied,” men’s and women’s ski jumping head coach Tore Sneli said in a statement. “It’s always a hard fight at the top, but I believe Erik Belshaw could have some great results, if he has a good day and the conditions are fair.”

Five men and two women qualified to represent the U.S. in Nordic combined. Niklas Malacinski, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, will make his fifth Junior Worlds appearance, Evan Nichols, of Lyme, New Hampshire, will make his fourth, Carter Brubaker, of Anchorage, Alaska, will make his third and it will be the second appearance for Caleb Zuckerman, of Norwich, Vermont.

For women’s Nordic combined, Tess Arnone, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, will make her fifth Junior Worlds appearance, while Alexa Brabec, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, will make her fourth.

“We are proud to have five men represent the United States and USA Nordic at the Junior World Championships in Whistler, Canada,” men’s Nordic combined team director Nick Hendrickson said. “We have some junior veterans returning to the championships, and we also have an athlete competing in his first Junior World Championships. It will be great to have all of the athletes performing at their highest level, as I know they have been specifically training for this event in North America.”
