PAUL SMITHS — The Paul Smith’s College Striders will again host the 28th annual Jingle Bell 5K Snowshoe Race on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Saturday will mark the 22nd time the event will be held at the Paul Smith’s College VIC and the VIC trails staff will decide which 5K course will be best, given the seasonal conditions.

The race is expected to be a snowshoe race, but if there is an insufficient amount of snow prior to race time, the event will become a late-season trail running event. This year’s event, however, will not be a national qualifier.

The race will also feature a 0.8-mile cross-country snowshoe race for children 14 and under. However, participants can also choose to run the 5K distance.

There will also be classes and prizes for the junior runners. The event will have six age group classes, so everyone is expected to be eligible for post-race prizes, according to the event organizer. Age group prizes will be awarded to the top three in seven age classes.

Race registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Paul Smith’s College VIC lobby. For more information, contact Jim Tucker at 518-651-6436 or jtucker@paulsmiths.edu.
