State Police plan annual golf tourney

LAKE PLACID — New York State Police Troop B will host its annual golf tournament at the Craig Wood Golf Country Club in Lake Placid on Sept. 16.

The tournament will honor a former trooper, Todd Claremont, who died in January.

Claremont, of Gabriels, was honored with the Trooper William V. McDonagh Community Service Award in May, posthumously, at the Memorial Day Superintendent Commendation and Awards Ceremony in Albany.

A portion of the proceeds from the golf tournament will be awarded as a scholarship for a student involved in community service and who volunteers at a local fire department and wishes to continue their education.

The event will have contests, raffles and merchandise for sale to raise money to offset the cost to players.

The event organizers are asking for monetary donations, as well as donations of items that could be raffled. Hole sponsorships will be in the amount of $100.

Monetary donations/hole sponsorships can be made out to “Troop B Fundraising” and mailed to New York State Police Troop B, c/o Trooper Wendy House, P.O. Box 100, 1097 state Route 86, Ray Brook, NY 12977.
