The race, which started at Berkley Green and finished behind the Hotel Saranac, was hosted by the Rotary Club of Saranac Lake and the Saranac Lake Youth Center. This year’s event raised money to support expanded programming at the Saranac Lake Youth Center and enhance the Saranac Lake Rotary Club’s literacy program.

Most of the participants competed in the 5-kilometer distance, with 25 men and 27 women completing the run course. The 5K walk featured 16 total competitors and the 10K race had 21 competitors.

Hudson Shaw, of Saratoga Springs, was the winner of the men’s 5K race with a time of 19 minutes, 10 seconds. Shaw, 16, was trailed by Keith Kogut (20:08.95) and Alex Cameron (20:19.34).

Kendra Leonidas, of Paul Smiths, won the women’s 5K competition in 23:59.59. Astacia Bruno (24:46.68) and Alanna Kogut (25:02.30) took second and third place, respectively.

Saranac Lake High School cross country runners, Aiden Hesseltine and Morgan Martin, ran the men’s 10K competition together and took first and second, respectively. Daniel Edelstein, of Saranac Lake, took third place in 41:51.45.

Melinda Bard, of Saranac Lake, had the third fastest time overall 10K time and won the women’s competition in 39:48.18. Caroline Dodd (43:28.92), of Saranac Lake, finished in second place, while Katherine Kalaris (47:41.36) was third.

Polly Sullivan, of Ray Brook, was the fastest walker of the day, completing the 5K course in 42:10.93, while Sue Whitcomb (42:12.62) and Kerri Ziemann (43:31.50) rounded out the top three.
