Ten Tri-Lakes baseball players were recognized for their success by being selected to their respective league all-star teams this season.

Tupper Lake, which plays in Section X, has two players named to the Watertown Daily Times All-North baseball team. The Lake Placid and Saranac Lake baseball teams, both of whom play in Section VII, had four each in the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference and the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference, respectively.

Youth prevailed for the Lumberjacks this season, as sophomore Griffin Shaheen was named first-team All-North for the designated hitter position, while his teammate Karter Kenniston, a freshman, was named an honorable mention.

Shaheen was solid from the plate this season knocking in four home runs, according to the Watertown Daily Times. While Kenniston was dominant from the mound picking up a win in the Section X championship game to help Tupper Lake claim their first boys’ baseball championship since returning to the section prior to the 2005-06 school year.

While the Lake Placid baseball team wasn’t able to walk away with the Section VII Class C title, they were able to win the MVAC league title.

The Blue Bombers’ JJ Ledwith, Vann Morelli and PJ Colby were named Division II all-stars, while Jarrett Mihill was named an honorable mention. Lake Placid’s head coach, Brian Brandes, was also recognized as the MVAC coach of the year.

Ledwith, a catcher, led the Blue Bombers in hits and stolen bases this season. From the mound, Colby was strong leading his squad with the most batters struck out and the lowest earned run average. First-year varsity baseball players Mihill and Morelli combined for 30 hits.

The Red Storm squad was represented by Cedar Rivers, Ben Clark and Kaden Darrah as CVAC Division II all-stars while Brady Roberts was an honorable mention.

The nomination marked the second year in a row that Rivers, Clark and Roberts received all-star honors.

While the four Saranac Lake players had a solid season, the team itself had an up and down season that ended early after a first-round loss in the Section VII Class B playoffs.
