LP track teams fall in tri-meet

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid track and field teams had a tough outing Thursday in a tri-team meet at home. The Blue Bombers girls fell to the Northeastern Clinton Cougars 103-29 and to the Saranac Central Chiefs 103-26. The Lake Placid boys fell to the Cougars 81-41 and to the Chiefs 105-26.

The Blue Bomber boys’ picked up three individual first-place wins, two of which came from Aidan Fay. Fay won the 1,600-meter and the 3,200-meter to pace Lake Placid and Will Douglas took home the 400-meter race in 53.5 seconds for the Blue Bombers.

Despite the Lake Placid girls not earning a first-place finish, the squad had some solid results, including a second-place finish from Ellen Lansing in the 400-meter hurdles.

Lansing finished the event at 1:20.0, which was 0.1 seconds faster than the third-place finisher, NCCS’ Holly Visconti (1:20.1).

The Blue Bomber girls also picked up a second-place finish from their 4×400-meter relay team of Clara Boutelle, Pia Morelli, Kai McKinnon and Lily Jones. The team finished at 4:46.8.

The Lake Placid track and field teams will host their next meet against AuSable Valley on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
