High School Roundup: Blue Bombers golf edges out Patriots

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid golf team notched their sixth win of the season Friday, edging out the AuSable Valley Patriots 3.5-2.5 at the Harmony Golf Course in Port Kent.

Playing in the Blue Bombers’ top spot, Brady Tremblay was able to earn medalist honors for the seventh time this season by shooting a 41. Tremblay, a junior, defeated AuSable Valley’s Porter Goodman 41-45.

Seb Cecunjanin and Tanner Foley picked up key wins for Lake Placid in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively. Cecunjanin defeated Oliver Dorr 49-61 and Foley topped Keegan Snow 66-75.

In the No. 4 matchup, the Blue Bombers’ Alex Wright shot a 47 to tie the Patriots’ Ethan Crowninshield to earn a half-point each.

Grant Weerts turned in AuSable’s lowest score. Weerts shot a 44 to beat Lake Placid’s Carver Bell (45) in the No. 3 position. The Blue Bomber’s Grady Draper lost his match in the No. 2 position to Jack Thomas, who shot a 46. Draper carded a 49.

Lake Placid, now 6-1 on the season, will take on the Moriah Vikings at home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

LACROSSE

Salmon River 23, Saranac Lake Placid 3

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Placid lacrosse team fell 23-3 to the Salmon River Shamrocks on the road Saturday.

The Shamrocks, now 11-0 on the season, proved to be a tough match and SLP struggled to stop Salmon River’s offensive attack.

Alex LaDue led SLP with two goals, while Phoebe Peer contributed to the scoresheet with one goal. Sydney Lawrence recorded an assist on Saturday.

The girls were scheduled to take on Massena Central on the road Monday in their first of four games this week. SLP will host Canton on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
