LP girls cross country dominate at Burnt Hills Invitational

The Lake Placid girls cross country team had its top five girls all in by the 21st place at a meet in Saratoga Springs Saturday. Eighth-grader Samantha Damico, won the overall race with a time of 18 minutes and 45 seconds — which averages to a 6:10 minute mile for 3 miles.

Senior and team captain Annie Rose-McCandlish (21:07) finished 11th overall and sophomore Lilly Rother (21:44) finished 17th overall. Eighth-grader Kai McKinnon (22:00) finished 20th overall and junior Harley Cohen (22:08) finished 21st. Jenna Fay and Erin Roth raced as the sixth and seventh runners. Ellen Lansing and Monica Mzese did not race this weekend.

On the boys side, the team finished ninth out of 18 teams. Junior Andrew Scanio finished in sixth in 17:00 — averaging 5:35 minute miles. Freshman Aidan Fay (18:07) finished 21st. Senior and captain Max Flanigan (18:16) finished 26th. Senior Dan Kelleher (20:48) finished 86th. Senior Will Hollander (22:15) finished 120th. Freshman Colin Francis (22:19) finished 124th and sophomore Colton Kondrat (22:25) finished in 125th. Also competing for the LP boys were Ethan Cash, Sean Roth and Alex Dawson-Ellis.
