Unbeaten Red Storm defeat LP in hoops

Saranac Lake looks to wrap up season tonight at 7-0

LAKE PLACID — The Saranac Lake boys basketball team is one win away from an unbeaten season.

On Wednesday, the Red Storm improved to 6-0 with a 74-34 victory at Lake Placid.

Junior Nate McCarthy paved the way with a game-high 22 points on a night when eight players on the Red Storm’s roster got in the scoring column.

Landon Faubert chipped in 18 points, which all came from long range on six successful three-pointers. Overall, Saranac Lake knocked down 11 three-pointers.

Although senior Brady Yando’s four-game double-digit scoring run came to an end, he had a big night dishing off the ball and finished with 12 assists in the win.

The teams were tied 10-10 after the opening quarter and Saranac Lake then lit up the floor, scoring 27 points in the second quarter to lead 37-20 at halftime.
