Tournament closes out Saranac Inn season
SARANAC INN — Another season has come and gone at the Saranac Inn Golf Club, and in keeping with recent tradition, the course bid adieu to 2020 with its final tournament of the year on Sunday.
The popular Columbus Day weekend tournament features two-person teams that begin their rounds with six holes of scramble play, followed by six holes of best ball and the final half dozen holes of alternating shot.
Although it was a little brisk at times due to some wind that came and went, 86 golfers enjoyed a sunny day on the course.
Buzzy Rickard and Colon Fadden took top honors, shooting a 4-over par 72 to win by two strokes. Six other teams remained in the thick of it down the stretch, with three pairs finishing tied for second with 78s, and another trio of teams finishing a shot back of that result with 79s.
The runner-up teams consisted of last year’s champions Tristan Fitzgerald and Tanner Manning, as well as Bob Stickly and Chris Taylor and Kelly Locke and Jeff Nemick.
Todd Lindsay and Larry Bashaw, Rick Young and Perry Babcock and Randy Quayle and Roger Neal were the three teams turning in rounds of 79.
Monday marked the final day of golf for the season at the course.
