St. Joe’s tourney becomes virtual

SARANAC LAKE — Each summer, the St. Joseph’s Treatment and Recovery Center hosts its annual golf tournament, which its only yearly fundraiser.

This summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be held virtually.

The 19th annual St. Joseph’s Golf Tournament, with its rich traditions and generous support of individuals and families in treatment, will take place in virtual, safe and socially-distanced format.

It’s St. Joe’s way of continuing to host its golf tournament while keeping everyone safe through social distancing, while still enjoying a day of golf at their favorite course.

Tournament play began on July 24 and runs through Aug. 31.

Participants must play 18 holes of golf, scramble format. Since it’s virtual, players can compete on the course of their choice. When finished, players can email their scores to Tournament Central at jgrant@stjoestreatment.org and St, Joe’s will update the tournament leaderboard each Friday for the duration of the event.

To continue to support Sthe t. Joseph’s Scholarship Fund, St. Joe’s asks that each team contribute a donation of $100. Individuals can register for $25. Each player will receive an official tournament t-shirt.

The team with the lowest combined score will be named the 2020 recipient of the St. Joseph’s Cup, a special tribute to the team selected not just for their athletic skill, but for their sportsmanship, fellowship, and commitment to doing their personal best –all qualities foundational to successful, sustained recovery.

Players on the winning team will have their names engraved on the Cup, and enjoy the recognition for the year in their homes, offices, or wherever they choose to share this unique honor.

The tournament will also award a number of special categories, including best costume, best team photo (socially-distanced, of course) and best mask.

To register, players can sign up on the wiTournament page of St. Joseph’s website at www.stjoestreatment.org.
