Paul Smith’s VIC trail runs start this week

PAUL SMITHS — The Paul Smith’s College Visitor Interpretive Center is going to be holding its Summer Trail Run series starting this Wednesday, and continuing until July 28.

There will be a new course marked and left marked for the whole week starting on Wednesdays.

The VIC also be doing a similar operation for the annual Jenkins Mountain Scramble Trail 10k and Half Marathon starting on August 7 and running to the 16.

“The VIC Summer Trail Run series returns, but this time with a twist,” said Tyler Dezago, the trails and facilities coordinator at the VIC. “In order to reduce congregation for each trail race we have decided to extend the period that the race course is open.”

Each week, VIC staff will set up a new, well-marked course on the Wednesday of each week. The course will stay set up from Wednesdays to Mondays. Runners have the opportunity to jog, run, walk, or race the course over that period of six days. On Tuesdays, the course will be changed for the following week. Each course is as close to a 5k (3.1 miles) as possible and features all the different ecosystems found at the VIC. There is no cost for using the course. Run with a friend or race the clock.

The courses will start in the VIC backyard. Participants will find a laminated map posted as well as a start and directional arrow.

Runners are encouraged to send their results along with any great photographs taken to Tyler Dezago at tdezago@paulsmiths.edu. At the end of each course period, results of each participant will be published and posted on Facebook, instagram and the event’s website page.
