A year ago, on the final two days of March, Lake Placid hosted the 2019 International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation World Championships on the mile-long run at Mount Van Hoevenberg. In this photo, some of the competitors are lined up at the top of the track waiting to begin on of their runs. The two-day, four-heat event featured 13 sliders from nine different nations: the United States, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, Israel, Sweden, Latvia, Italy and Germany.
