Hot-shooting Knights down Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid boys basketball team had no answer for two players who had hot shooting nights as host Seton Catholic downed the Blue Bombers 63-51 on Friday.

Alex Coupal and Foster Ovios combined to drain all but 14 of the Knights’ points in the contest. Coupal tossed in a game-high 29 points and Ovios added 20 for Seton Catholic, which improved to 10-5 overall.

Lake Placid hung tough but the game slipped away late for the Blue Bombers, who dropped to 4-11 overall. The Blue Bombers trailed 31-19 at halftime and then cut their deficit to 45-38 heading into the fourth quarter. Seton Catholic outscored Lake Placid 18-13 in the final period to clinch the win.

Zach Gavin and Adnan Cecunjanin combined to knock down seven three-pointers for Lake Placid. Gavin led the Blue Bombers with 16 points and Cecunjanin added 14 points. Nick Marvin was the next-highest scorer for Lake Placid with seven, which all came in the second half.

Lake Placid’s next game is a home contest against Bolton Central on Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m.
