SLP girls fall to Plattsburgh in semi

PLATTSBURGH — The Saranac Lake Placid girls hockey season came to an end Wednesday in the semifinal round of the Section VII tournament.

Plattsburgh scored a goal in each period to beat SLP 3-0 and advance to the championship game to face Franklin Academy, a 3-2 winner over Beekmantown on Wednesday.

Saranac Lake Placid Olivia Ferebee registered 33 saves as her team found itself on the defensive for much of the game. Plattsburgh finished with a convincing 33-16 advantage in shots.

Ada Johnston scored Plattsburgh first goal at 7:30 of the first period, McKenzie Brown tallied in the second period and Gillian Boule sealed the victory with a goal at 8:22 of the third.

Saranac Lake Placid came into the game as the tournament’s No. 3 seed while Plattsburgh was No. 2.

Beekmantown was the top seed in the tournament, while Franklin Academy came in as the No. 4. The Huskies will take on Plattsburgh for the league championship on Monday at Stafford Ice Arena.
