Blue Bombers boys and girls shoot down Chazy

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid boys and girls basketball teams claimed a sweep Friday, with each squad taking down Chazy in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference games.

The Blue Bombers boys played on the road and triumphed 36-29, while Lake Placid’s girls hosted the Eagles and came away with a 36-28 victory.

Sophomore Jack Armstrong paced Lake Placid’s boys with a game-high 18 points, and Matt Brandes and Zach Gavin tossed in eight points apiece in the win.

Arnita Cecunjanin paved the way for Lake Placid’s girls, scoring a game-high 133 points. Abby Hulhro finished as Chazy’s high scorer with 10 points, but she left the game with an injury in the third quarter, and that’s when the Blue Bombers took advantage.

Lake Placid trailed at the end of the first three quarters, but in the fourth, the Blue Bombers outscored the Eagles 11-0 to pull away for the victory.

Also for the Blue Bombers, Grace Crawford scored eight points, Katie Coursen chipped in six, Julia Crawford added five points and Izzy Armstrong tossed in four.
