SLP boys fall 5-3 to Tigers

The Saranac Lake Placid boys hockey team dropped its second game in as many days, falling 5-3 to host Middlebury Saturday in the Buster Brush Memorial tournament in Vermont.

Rhett Darrah scored a pair of goals to lead SLP and Dylan Amell found the back of the net once and added an assist in the loss. Tyler Hinckley, Jon Kratts and Carter Sturgeon chipped in with an assist each for SLP, and Anders Stanton recorded 14 saves in goal in the loss.

The setback was a painful one for SLP, which owned a 3-1 edge heading into the final period. The Tigers took it to SLP when they scored four goals during a span that was a little more than four minutes. SLP finished the game with a 30-20 advantage in shots on goal.

SLP, which dropped to 4-3 overall, is now off until Jan. 7 when it travels to face Plattsburgh in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference matchup at the SUNY Plattsburgh Field House with the opening faceoff slated for 6 p.m.
