NCCC keeps unbeaten record intact

JOHNSTOWN — The North Country Community College women’s basketball team won its second road game in two nights Wednesday, downing Fulton Montgomery 90-57 to keep its unbeaten start to the season intact.

The Saints improved to 9-0 overall with the victory, which came one day after beating Bryant & Stratton 73-30 on Tuesday.

Kayla Carder scored 28 of her game-high 32 points in the second half Wednesday as the Saints pulled away to lock up the win over Fulton Montgomery. Teammates Lavender Ward and Lauren Denny each chipped in nine points for North Country, while Talesa Campbell scored eight and Dantasia Simpson and Veisinia Vaipulu hit for seven.

Against Bryant & Stratton on Tuesday night, Carder racked up 15 points and 15 rebounds and Campbell scored a game-high 22 points to lead the way for the Saints. Damoni Wells scored 13 points against Bryant & Stratton.

The Saints men’s and women’s teams hit the road Saturday to take on Jefferson Community College.
