Bolton defeats LP girls

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid girls basketball team fell to Bolton 47-33 on Monday in a historic night in the Blue Bombers’ gymnasium.

Bolton’s Katelyn Van Auken was the history maker, as the junior scored the 1,000th point of her high school career. Van Auken drained 19 points in the contest, which tied her with teammate Maria Baker for game-high scoring honors. Van Auken reached the 1,000 plateau with just over three minutes remaining when she sank a pair of foul shots, with the second successful free throw putting her at the 1,000-point mark.

The Eagles were in control early and gradually pulled away. They led the Blue Bombers 15-6 after the first period and eventually extended their advantage to 34-18 heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior Grace Crawford paced Lake Placid with 10 points, and Izzy Armstrong and Deidre Kellerman each adding seven points in the setback.
