Dan Edelstein, of Saranac Lake, crosses the finish line to win the Helpers Fund 10K men’s race Saturday in Chestertown. Edelstein, 61, finished in 40 minutes, 38 seconds to place third overall in the race, trailing only 2020 Olympic marathon trials qualifier Karen Bertasso (36:50) and Michelle Merliss (38:00). Bertasso and Merliss each beat the previous course record set in 2007 by Anne Hessberg. Michael Hanson, a 37-year-old from Woburn, Massachusetts, finished fourth overall in 40:45. Marc Galvin, of Lake Placid, also had a big race over the weekend, finishing first overall in the Adirondack Distance Festival Marathon in Schroon Lake with a time of 3:05:45 on Sunday.
