Participants congregate in the Pine Room at Paul Smith’s College during the Empire State Winter Games eSports competition on Saturday, Feb. 2. Participants competed in Madden 2019 for the grand prize of a $300 gift certificate. In the finals, Paul Smith’s College student Josh Mitchell won over fellow Smitty Hayden Kline for the championship. PSC student Matthew Tillman beat Nate Phelen for third place and Saranac Lake High School student Will McClure finished just outside of the semifinals in fifth. The field had a wide range of 27 athletes, varying in age from 12 to 30 and including two women. Paul Smith’s College hopes to create its own collegiate eSports team next fall. (Photo provided)
