With the onset of fall, the cheers and moans of hometown crowds can be heard throughout the Tri-Lakes as volleyball, soccer, football and cross country running teams started their regular season schedules.

Among Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake, there are 13 varsity squads, and while our sports pages will begin to fill with news and recaps of local athletes and teams, here’s a glimpse of what some of the kids have been up to as their seasons began last week.
