Saranac Lake golf picks up win over Seton Catholic

PLATTSBURGH — The Saranac Lake golf team opened its season with a 6-0 victory over Seton Catholic on Thursday at The Barracks Golf Course.
Tanner Courcelle shot the low round of the day with his 41 from the No. 1 spot for the Red Storm. He beat Seton Catholic’s John Glover, who fired a 57.
Gunner Cross carded a 61, Ray Amell shot 52, Kyler Darrah turned in a 42, Zack Gladd shot 54 and Logan Brown fired a 65 to account for Saranac Lake’s wins.

TICONDEROGA — The Saranac Lake baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday with a 10-2 loss to Ticonderoga.
The Sentinels raced out to a 6-0 lead after three innings, then posted four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the victory. The Red Storm scored both their runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Matt Kratts, Casey Sturgeon, Derek Strack and Liam McCloskey each recorded a single for Saranac Lake. Kratts and McCloskey accounted for the team’s runs.
“Very little offense doomed the Red Storm,” Saranac Lake manager Mark Farmer said. “Several fielding errors were costly.”
Evan Graney racked up four RBI and Russell Gallo had two doubles to lead Ticonderoga offensively.
Saranac Lake is 1-1 overall.
