Bobcats earn YSCC awards
Junior Tyler Hoellerer and freshman Anna Mehner each earned a spot on the all-conference team, with Hoellerer earning his second YSCC most valuable player honor.
“I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, and (I’ll) hopefully go for a three-peat next year,” Hoellerer said.
Mehner scored five goals and had four assists to end up in the sixth spot on the YSCC points list.
“Anna shined as our starting center midfielder this season, but is the type of player that would succeed at any position on the field,” coach Bailey Waterbury said. “Her versatility allowed me to move her wherever we needed her as situations arose.
“For example, although we typically needed Anna’s skill in the midfield or defense, when we found ourselves down 1-0 to Hampshire with 10 minutes left in the game I moved her up top to striker. She was able tie the game up with just two minutes left for us. Mallory L’Esperance made a great run up the field and crossed the ball to Anna who buried it for us in the 88th minute of play, allowing us to end with a tie instead of a loss.”
Mehner, who hails from Brunswick, is a fisheries and wildlife science major, as is Hoellerer. Hoellerer is from Marathon. Hoellerer scored one goal this season, in spite of his starting position as a defender.
