Bike ride for the river

The fourth annual Ride for the River will be held at the Hungry Trout Resort in Wilmington on Sunday.

Ride for the River is an event that celebrates the AuSable River and its surrounding communities. All proceeds support the Ausable River Association’s efforts to identify, conserve and restore the natural and recreational resources of the AuSable River.

This year, there are three road bike and two mountain bike routes.

Road routes range from 10 to 50 miles, and for those interested in exploring the mountain bike trails around Wilmington the “Poor Man’s Downhill” shuttle bus will be running. Suggested routes through the Flume trail system are also available for those looking for an easier mountain bike route.

Ride for the River T-shirts are available for those who pre-register in time. The artwork on the back of the shirt, seen on event posters, was designed by Blue Line Design.

An after-party begins at noon at the Hungry Trout. It features live music from Back Porch Society, food from the Hungry Trout, cold beverages from the Great Adirondack Brewing Company, coffee from SubAlpine Coffee, chair massages from River Stone Wellness and fly-casting demos with Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador Rachel Finn.

There will also be a raffle for prizes including a Hornbeck Canoe and half-day guided fly fishing trip with Hungry Trout Fly Shop owner Evan Bottcher. The after-party is open to the public.
