GOP health proposals
To the editor:
I haven’t written for a while, because I am appalled by the daily criminal activity of the current Trump administration and his also appalling behavior. (Example: making Rob Reiner’s murder about himself.)
Today, I felt that it was necessary to point out some misleading information regarding the coming healthcare crisis.
In the Dec. 15 Enterprise, an article by The Associated Press states that the plan championed by the Democrats would keep the program enrollees benefiting from the enhanced subsidies for three more years. This affects millions of Americans.
Then we get a “but” it would come at a cost of nearly $83 billion, “added to federal deficits over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office.” Now I ask you, so what? Do we leave millions of Americans, working Americans, without any health coverage? What about preexisting conditions? The trillion-dollar “Big Beautiful Bill” cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans, along with cutting healthcare for millions. A trillion is $1,000,000,000,000. I would say it needs to be reworked to fit in the $83,000,000,000 or $83 billion. How is the trillion going to be worked into the deficits? Seriously?
Aren’t we being a bit silly? You would let people, babies and children die? Because they won’t be able to afford health coverage. Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia said, “people will die.”
The whole thing with plunging our economy into deeper deficits drags the economy down and causes interest rates to skyrocket. This administration has cut so much out of services to Americans that we taxpayers pay for, it will no longer provide basic services to the VA, to FEMA and North Carolina is still waiting … now Washington State has disastrous flooding … while the administration lies and gaslights us. While they spend untold amounts of taxpayer money to send immigrants here, there and everywhere, building more detention centers (AKA concentration camps). Immigrants contribute billions to our economy, to Social Security. They rent, buy groceries, gas, etc. and contribute to the U.S. Treasury.
The Republicans need to find their respective backbones and stand up to that guy in the White House. Our country cannot stand another three years of Donald Trump.
Sincerely,
