Support McCormick for town clerk, tax collector

To the editor:

We are pleased to endorse Amy Kieth McCormick for the town of Franklin clerk and tax collector. Amy was born and raised in Vermontville and learned from a very young age to appreciate and respect hard work, personal integrity and common sense. She graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 2000 and has a degree in business administration and an accounting degree.

Amy and her husband Pat own a landscaping business located in Vermontville, and proudly display their snowman “Franklin” during the winter months in their front yard. Her maternal grandfather, Harold Montgomery, ran a gas station in Vermontville and served as town supervisor. Her paternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Keith, was also a town supervisor who dedicated decades of volunteer and political service to the town. The town of Franklin has been a part of her family’s history for decades. In addition to being a business owner, Amy is a mom to Elliot and a daughter to Rob and Joannie. She has worked as a tax preparer, bookkeeper, and insurance agent, and served on various not-for-profit boards.

As the town of Franklin clerk and tax collector, Amy will offer increased availability of office hours, learn about issues and concerns that the town residents have, create open communication and transparency, and research ways to improve our existing park through grants and fundraisers.

Amy will work across party lines with the board and residents of Franklin for the good of all. She is enthusiastic, open-minded, and energetic. Amy looks forward to a bright future for her town while maintaining the traditions and legacies that have always been what made the town of Franklin a special place to live, work and raise a family.
