Support Cashman for Assembly
To the editor:
I recently had the opportunity to ask Assembly candidate Michael Cashman about his policies, especially those related to health, safety and our environment. A small group that I chair, the Northern Watersheds Committee, is a North Country offshoot of the Sierra Club, the oldest and largest environmental organization. We have been working to end the dangerous practice of land-spreading of municipal sewage sludge. Contaminated with toxic PFAS “forever chemicals,” DEC permits the importation of half a million pounds of “biosolids” to this district every day.
Supervisor Cashman has been dealing with PFAS pollution at the PAFB flightline, so he understands this problem. That in part led me to urge Sierra Club’s endorsement.
Additional reasons I support Michael include his passion for protecting the health and promoting the prosperity of all people on both sides of the Blue Line, plus his support for farmland preservation, waterfront protection, invasive species control and recreational access. If elected, he also wants to expand public transit in rural areas.
Please join me in voting for Michael Cashman.
