Grateful for an incredible community

To the editor:

The organizing committee for Northern Current extends its gratitude for helping us host another joyous music festival.

As a nonprofit event, we rely on the generosity of our community to pull this thing together. Our team of volunteers works with dozens of businesses, nonprofits, municipalities and individuals to host Northern Current at Riverside Park, and every year we’re awestruck by the support we receive and crowds that turn out.

There are so many thank yous to share. First and foremost, we thank our volunteers, who help with everything from sponsor outreach and program planning to setting up tents, greeting festival-goers, helping out at the Kids Zone and keeping the porta-potties clean. We simply can’t do it without our volunteers.

Our presenting sponsors contribute a tremendous amount of financial and in-kind support. We thank Waterhole, Tell Media, Play ADK, Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Hammersong Architectural Metal & Design. Our headlining sponsor, Hotel Saranac, helped us bring the incredible Combo Chimbita to the stage and they tore the house down — thank you. Our event sponsors help bring the rest of the festival to life — thank you to North Country Community College, Adirondack Health, Paul Smith’s College and Elevate ADK. Thanks to our music sponsors Long Run Wealth, Northern Power & Light, Edward Jones, Shamim and Craig, Nori’s Village Market and Voco Saranac Lake.

The Kids Zone has grown in popularity and is now a festival mainstay. We thank Duff’s Dumpsters, Book Nook, Champlain National Bank, Casella, Lake Flower Goats & Friends, Adirondack for Kids and Stewart’s Shops for their support. A special thank you to Play ADK and Kaet O’Brien for hosting such a fun experience. Our green room and lodging sponsors help us welcome our traveling musicians with the best hospitality possible. Big shoutouts to Origin Coffee, Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters, Hex and Hop, High Peaks Distributing, Ampersand Bay Resort, Corey Purcell and Four Seasons Sotheby’s International Realty and the Sara-Placid Inn.

Northern Current is made possible with a grant from the Statewide Community Regrants program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts. We also receive additional support from Explore Adirondack Frontier, Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism, Charles Wood Foundation, Pearsall Foundation, Grizle T’s, Bitters & Bones, The Wild Center, St. Regis Canoe Outfitters, the town of Harrietstown and Ampersound, and from our media sponsors, North Country Public Radio and NYS Music.

We thank the Saranac Lake Rotary Foundation for its ongoing support — Kevin, Franny, John and the rest of the Rotary volunteers are amazing assets to our community. To the village of Saranac Lake: thank you for letting us host this festival at Riverside Park and making the process simple for us.

Our committee is committed to hosting the best possible music festival for our community. Each year, we learn a little more and strive to make improvements. We hope you enjoyed the show and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

Sincerely,

The Northern Current organizing committee
