Pendragon does it again
To the editor:
The current production of “Twelfth Night” at Pendragon Theatre is superb. Now, there may be some who shy away from Shakespeare. Have no fear! This is a rollicking rendition of one of the favorites of Shakespeare’s comedies. While it stays true to many of the lines written oh so long ago, this version re-written by Pendragon’s managing director, Michael Aguirre, plays with words and numerous references to our modern day beloved Saranac Lake. Whether you are a local whose family has lived here for generations or one who arrived recently or who comes for just part of the year, you will lean into the talented, multi-dimensional music and chuckle, laugh and guffaw at references to well known haunts and neighboring towns and areas. It’s just plain fun, people. Don’t miss this.
Hint: come a bit early to allow time to take in the richly detailed set. You may not see the label on a beer bottle with “Illyria Lake”, but check out the rustic proscenium arch and the gorgeous carpets generously loaned by Lisa Yanchitis, Lake Placid Rug and Home.
