Golf scramble benefits Women’s Civic Chamber
To the editor:
The Women’s Civic Chamber of Saranac Lake hosted its fifth annual Golf Scramble on Saturday, Aug. 23. Forty-eight golfers participated in the event held at the Saranac Lake Golf Club. Funds raised through the Golf Scramble benefit the Women’s Civic Chamber in their support of the greater Saranac Lake community through activities, events and donations.
The Scramble was a great success, with a barbecue lunch and prizes shared after play was finished. The golfers who participated had the opportunity to meet and golf with Team USA athletes, including bobsledders Bryce Cheek, Geoff Gadbois, Jestena Mattson, Boone Niederhofer, Hunter Powell and Collin Storms; and luge sliders Sean Hollander and Dana Kellogg. Vail Cote and Savannah Uhlier of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Center also spent time on the course to support our efforts.
Congratulations to the Golf Scramble winners. The top Women’s team with a score of 36 included Lynne Brubaker, Sue Devlin, Kathy Gilligan and Marie Morgan. The winning Mixed team consisted of Barb Martin, Mike Martin, Kevin Morgan and David Snyder — with a final score of 32. And the “gold medal” for Men went to the Team USA athletes of Vaclav Cervenka, Zack DiGregorio, Jonny Gustafson and Tucker West with an overall low score of 31.
