A letter about a member of the class of 1965

To the editor:

In a recent interview with Aaron Marbone, I made an egregious mistake. I erroneously said that my classmate George Swentusky, who sat in front of me in homeroom for six years straight, died in Vietnam, which he did not.

My error caused pain to some family members, and I am truly sorry for the misstatement. After graduating in 1965, I moved across the country and thereafter received news in bits and pieces. I suspect that I misunderstood something I read or heard over the years.

I certainly meant no harm to George’s loved ones or to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise.

Sincerely,

Carla Swett Stockton
