Protect your precious fur buddies
To the editor:
It’s summertime once again in the Adirondacks, and while our hot spells usually don’t last, when it does get hot, the temperature can quickly rise to over 100 degrees in a car with windows closed. This can and all too often does result in pets dying needlessly due to reckless and careless behavior of their owner.
Today, my girlfriend came home very upset at what she had just witnessed in the Price Chopper parking lot in Lake Placid where a little dog was completely enclosed in a small car with no open windows and the outside temperature at 80 degrees. She did the right thing and watched over the dog while waiting for the owner to return and called the police and dog warden. Fortunately, before the warden arrived the owner returned and the dog was saved. Needless to say, this could have turned out very bad for the poor dog, and the owner. Please remember to think about your pets during these very hot days, and take all necessary precautions to protect your precious fur buddies.
