Vendors invited to the Hanmer at no cost

To the editor:

Vendors are welcome, at no charge, to both the start and finish lines of the Hanmer Race on July 6.

At the start line on Sunday, July 6, the Hotel Saranac will be serving breakfast sandwiches and coffee and a boat sales vendor will join the morning registration set up activities in Riverfront Park. Judges in the Guideboat Craftsmanship class and the Rub-A-Dub costume class will circulate throughout the busy crowd making their selections of the winners that are awarded at the finish line.

The iconic cannon sound starts the Lake races at 10:30 a.m. which finish at approximately noon. The next cannon boom signals the start of the Down the River races. The “quick change” from start to finish then begins and tents, tables, sound equipment and vendors move to the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club finish line to continue the day.

The sound of live music (Felon 13) welcomes contestants, spectators, visitors and families to the community picnic and celebration. The annual Elk’s Club chicken feast fills the area with delicious smells alongside baked goods, information booths, a canoe raffle, Hex and Hop adult beverages, canoe sales and water/soda sales. Free children’s activities continue this year to keep the kids happy and busy during the afternoon with the Rotary Club providing cotton candy and popcorn.

A large tent is an added feature this year. Tables and chairs and lots of shade will insure maximum comfort to those who wait for their favorite competitors to cross the finish line and receive their awards.

All vendors are encouraged to let Kathy Dyer 505-235-1268 know their interest as soon as possible to insure space and to make sure that all required permits and regulations are met.
