Last meeting of the seasons for the Lake Placid Lions Club
To the editor:
The Lake Placid Lions Club actively meets from September until May annually. Over the years, members have convened bi-monthly dinner meetings at the esteemed Cascade Inn Restaurant, owned and operated by Joseph and Coleen Warren. The meals and service have simply been outstanding. The LPLC extends its gratitude and appreciation for the excellent meals, hospitality and generosity of the Warrens. We are pleased to learn that they will continue to be involved in the operation under new ownership and wish them well on whatever journey they choose.
The year’s final meeting took place at Mr. Mike’s Pizza due to the unavailability of the Cascade Inn at that time. Thanks to Dave Nicola and his staff for hosting the meeting at short notice.
At the meeting, we were honored to host District Governor Lion Holly McConchie and Lion Margo Walrath, service partner to the district governor. Both are members of the Galway Lions Club and serve as co-secretaries.
The district governor shared her overall views, intended goals and services provided by the Lions Clubs within the district.
The Lake Placid Lions Club members in attendance valued the insights provided by McConchie and Walrath. We extend our sincere gratitude for their time and for sharing their expertise and perspectives with us.
It was an interesting meeting to close a busy year, which included two important fund raisers, namely the Lions Club Radio Auction and the North Elba Toboggan Slide Event. Kudos and thanks to all who made donations and/or aided with assistance making these successful.
Finally, we will be present at the Community Day Festivities on June 1 and encourage all to stop by our table for more information if you have an interest in joining the LPLC.
Sincerely,
Dan Wikoff, King Lion, LPLC
