Bunk was a class act
To the editor:
I wasn’t able to attend Bunk’s Going Away Party at the Downhill Grill.
I’ll miss Bunk, first as my friend, and second as my go-to source for historical stuff. A few years ago in his Enterprise column, he superimposed my face on the image of his official logo, Mountain Al, and ran it beside Mountain Al.
Maybe my beard was a bit longer then, but Mountain Al looks much more like Bob Seidenstein than I do. But more recently I would get to visit with Bunk at the Grill when I went to pick up take-out, which was quite often. “Visit” may be quite an exaggeration.
Between Bunk drumming his fingers on the bar, speaking in his low voice, my hearing aids squeaking and the noise from the customers, I was only able, after about 10 minutes, to decipher a few words. He was a Class Act.
