Insanity 101

To the editor:

In your recent article by Chris Gaige, (“Choo Choo Ch’Boogie,” Aug. 30) the interview with Eric Thomas of the state Department of Transportation with regard to the Tupper lake passenger platform reviewed steps toward restoring passenger traffic on the Old Forge to Tupper lake rail. This would be the iteration of the line. The state has received years of feedback over this project, throwing the baby out in the bathwater by dividing the corridor part for trains, part for trail. In a virtual public hearing Beaver River was strongly against one of these platform monstrosities and prefers the train not to stop here. Psych 101 defines a behavior that is repeated over and over with expectations of a different result as insanity!

The trail use of the corridor is a proven benefit both for snowmobiling and now for use in the other seasons and conditions. When will DOT get the picture?
